Welcome to the Duxstad Residence Project

Transforming the Duxstad Residence: A New Orleans Landscape Makeover

The Duxstad family from Madison, Wisconsin, discovered New Orleans during their son’s time at Tulane University. Captivated by the city’s vibrant culture and unique landscape design, they decided to invest in a home rather than stay in hotels. However, their new property lacked the charm they admired in the city’s landscape.

Enhancing the Duxstad Residence with New Orleans Landscape Style

The outdoor space at the Duxstad Residence had several issues, including poor drainage and no area for entertainment. The yard didn’t reflect the beauty of New Orleans.

Miller Outdoors stepped in to transform the space. We:

  • Added fresh plantings and transplanted a Queen Palm
  • Installed a hardscaped brick patio and gravel driveway
  • Created a subsurface drainage system to prevent water damage
  • Installed a Rain Bird smart sprinkler system for year-round lawn care
  • Built a recreational Bocce Court and a scenic walkway

With these changes, the Duxstad Residence perfectly reflects New Orleans’ unique landscape design style.
