Welcome to the Duxstad Residence Project
The Duxstad family from Madison, Wisconsin, found New Orleans to be more than just a stop for visits after their son enrolled at Tulane University. Drawn in by the city’s vibrant culture and distinct landscape design, they decided to invest in a home instead of endlessly booking hotels. However, their dream house came with an outdoor space that didn’t match the city’s renowned beauty.
They were met with a lack of proper drainage, no outdoor entertainment area, and a yard that didn’t reflect the New Orleans landscape style they admired. To fix this, Miller Outdoors stepped in and transformed the space. They revamped the yard with fresh plantings and a transplanted Queen Palm, installed a hardscaped brick patio and gravel driveway, added a subsurface drainage system to prevent water issues, and incorporated a Rain Bird smart sprinkler system to keep the lawn lush year-round. To top it off, they created a recreational Bocce Court and scenic walkway, turning the Duxstads’ outdoor area into a true reflection of New Orleans’ charm.
